By now you have heard that the Governor announced a Stay at Home order to be activated tomorrow Saturday 03/21/2020. This does, for the time being, EXCLUDE construction sites. Your Union administration has been continuing the daily meetings with various Government Leaders. We will continue to keep you all informed through email and the 134 website.
Brothers and Sisters, International President Stephenson has issued a Question and Answer illustration with respect to an agreement the International Office signed with NECA. The National Disease Emergency Response Agreement (NDERA) was issued on March 16, 2020 for a thirty-day timeframe. The language in this document is being mandated by President Stephenson. I suggest you CAREFULLY read this document. As your Business Manager, I will always respect President Stephenson and his leadership but there are parts of this agreement that I strongly disagree with. As you can see in this document, JOURNEYMAN RECALL is the first and second issue addressed. Local 134, as every IBEW Local, will put these measures in place immediately, but please remember this is a temporary 30-day agreement that could be extended 30 more days if President Stephenson and NECA agree to such. However, I want to make each and every one of you aware that this Agreement is terminated at 30 or 60 days, all previous rules will resume.
Lastly, we have and will continue to work through this weekend to get relief and assistance for our Membership. We will be finalizing details over the weekend and will expect to have changes out to the Membership in the early part of next week. This situation has and will continue to change daily. The staff has been incredible in a very tough situation. I would also like to commend you the Membership for sticking together and staying strong!
