After yesterday’s meeting with the entire Chicago Building Trades Executive Board and the Chicagoland Association of General Contractors the following protective safeguards will be implemented on construction sites. Doubling the hand sanitizing stations, cleaning of temporary washrooms and job sites nightly instead of weekly. Staggering of start times, per our Collective Bargaining Agreement, so lunches and break times will be held with smaller numbers of people. The General Contractors will be supplying infrared thermometers so our workforce can be scanned every day. If someone does have a high temperature the Union and your contractor will be notified and the employee will be sent home. We are trying to keep as many people working for as long as we can. Obviously, things are changing day to day and we will update you regularly. Click HERE for new guidelines.
Next, International President Stephenson has signed the (NDERA) National Disease Emergency Response Agreement with N.E.C.A. This temporary (30 day) agreement describes an in depth look at different scenarios that may affect us individually and /or collectively. I would like to be clear after speaking and confirming directly with the International Office at this time the only way to receive a SUB Benefit is by signing the out of work book. While they have permitted members to Furlough in this temporary agreement, the rules of qualification for the SUB Benefit remain the same in Local 134. Click HERE to view the letter.
