  • Workers’ Rights Amendment
    Updated On: Oct 28, 2021
I want to make the entire Membership aware of the most IMPORTANT piece of legislation our Local has ever been presented to vote on. It will be the first item and the most important amendment on the November 2022 Ballot. The Workers’ Rights Amendment gives every employee the right to Organize and Collectively Bargain at his or her workplace. The Amendment will also BAN RIGHT TO WORK PERMANENTLY in the State of Illinois. This will change the Illinois Constitution and would be the first state in the Country to make this happen. This will be an all-hands-on deck undertaking. Please if each Union Member can get themselves and 4 family members, friends, neighbors to vote YES on the WORKERS’ RIGHT AMENDMENT we win and change things for the better. This will be a Labor-intensive undertaking, but when Organized Labor comes together as one, we do not lose. Please get involved in this program. Local 134 will be setting up a Communication Office at our Hall for the Campaign moving forward. Please look for mailings, emails, about this program coming to you early 2022.
Brothers and Sisters please keep yourselves up to date on the happenings in your Union by checking our website and/or downloading our app. I also want to make sure your beneficiaries are up to date not only at the Union Hall, Electrical Insurance Trustee’s, and the International Office. It’s a simple process that can make things in a difficult situation less stressful. Lastly, I want to commend everyone from retirees to our first-year apprentices and every Member in between. We have come through some strange and tough times in the past 19 months and we will continue together to make Local 134 the example for all of Organized Labor.
